Like a vioin and viola, the voices of Sofia Sanden and Ulrika Boden are marvelously suited for duet work. The arrangements of the band are full of subtle chord shifts and playful counterpoint. 'Skulle Jag Sorja' is based on the most famous work by Swedish poet Lucidor (1638-1674) who was frequently contracted to write for weddings and funerals. After having written a poem (free of charge!) for the local Baron's wedding day, he was thrown into jail on charges of defamation. It is thought that this is when he wrote 'Skulle Jag Sorja' or 'I would be a fool to grieve' a poem about the vicissitudes of life, and the necessity of embracing the unexpected. The band takes this lyric and turns it into a romping polka. Lucidor would probably have approved.
